Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University, majoring in painting, Tomoaki Okaniwa is the designer of The Virdi-anne. Although his field originally was fine arts, he self taught the concept of fashion. Begins the Men’s collection of The Virdi-anne from the 2001 S/S. Starts exhibition in 2006 at Paris. The word “Verdi-anne” does not have a fixed definition, but is a word inspired by the colour of viridian, a colour mixed with chromium oxide and green.

1993年多摩美術大学デザインテキスタイル学部に入学し、独学で靴作りを始める。96年靴メーカーのバックアップによりオリジナルブランド「archi doom」を立ち上げる。そして97年3月大学卒業後、シューズメーカー「EVOL」の設立に参加。98年ブランド名を「MIHARAYASUHIRO」に変え活動を始める。初の直営店「SOSU　MIHARAYASUHIRO」を東京青山にOPENさせる。99年には、初のウェアラインを東京コレクションにて発表。04年には初の海外でのコレクションを発表し、型破りなプレゼンテーションにより強烈なインパクトを与えた。05年には05A/Wミラノメンズコレクションに参加し、そして07-08A/Wから新たにパリメンズコレクションに参加する。
