Parker&Kent

Born in 1959 in Belgium. After graduating Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in 1981, she starts an independent brand via working in a prêt-a-porter company. She joins in the 1987/1988 A/W London Collection. As one of the “Antwerp Six”, Ann starts her designing career, by using a nude painting of a lady while she was in arts school as an inspiration. She changes the model completely by the cutting per season, exposing the delicate but strong, and the light but heavy, contrasts within the well-balanced collection had drawn every pair of eyes that were present. The passion that she focuses on human being is there in the clothes as well. Ann’s suggestion of masculine perspective represents the two sides, men and women, that lives in every one of us, and the human nature of being weak and strong at times.

1959年ベルギー出身。’81年アントワープ王立芸術アカデミーを卒業後、プレタポルテメーカー勤務を経て独立。’87-‘88A/Wロンドンコレクション参加。「アントワープ６」の一人であるアンは、日常やアートスクール在学中に自らが描いた裸婦から得るインスピレーションを源にデザイン活動を行う。シーズンごとにカッティングによる全く新しい型を提案し、繊細さと強さ、軽快感と重厚感といったコントラストを見せながらも調和の取れたコレクションは、見るものを魅了する。そこには人間そのものに焦点を当てた彼女の服作りに対する情熱も共存している。彼女が提案するメンズライクな世界観は、すべての人には男性と女性の二面性が存在し、また時に弱くそして時に強いという人間らしさが表現されているのである。
